Stearic acid is a long-chain saturated fatty acid , typically derived from animal or vegetable fats (such as tallow or palm oil). It appears as a white, waxy solid with a melting point of approximately 69°C, is slightly soluble in water, and readily dissolves in organic solvents like ethanol and chloroform. It exhibits excellent lubricity, emulsifying properties, and chemical stability, along with being mild and non-irritating.
